Hello there! My name is Melissa, and I started “Ring the Alam” in an effort to express my creativity, improve my confidence in writing and blogging, and share all of the fun things I find on this world wide web such as new music, fashion tidbits and fun events around Philadelphia.
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, went to a boarding school in a small town in Connecticut, and then made my mark in Philly as a 2010 graduate of Temple University (Go Owls!). With my major in Marketing and International Business, I’ve been working at agencies around Philadelphia doing everything from public relations, online media buying, social media and SEO (search engine optimization). I’m currently working as a marketing freelancer for local small businesses like Philadelphia Sports Network, but I love to blog and take event photographs for sites such as two.one.five magazine, Philadelphia Weekly and Bad Rhino Rumblings.
Some of my favorite hobbies to do in my free time include talking to random strangers around the city, taking horrible candid photos of my friends, playing soccer in an attempt to get in shape, and reading trashy novels.
